Captured Souls Screens at Depot: Q&A with Graham Humphreys, Madeleine Smith & Peter Fuller

On Wednesday, 21 January 2025, Captured Souls: In Conversation with Graham Humphreys screens at Depot Cinema in Lewes at 5:30 PM, followed by a Q&A featuring artist Graham Humphreys, actor Madeleine Smith, journalist and curator Peter Fuller, moderated by journalist Billy Chainsaw. Following the screening, there will be a signing opportunity with prints available to purchase.

Captured Souls traces Graham's journey from a childhood fascinated by a haunting Ladybird skeleton, through his era-defining posters for The Evil Dead and A Nightmare on Elm Street, to his enduring influence on horror's visual language. The film is told entirely in Graham's own words through conversations with Reece Shearsmith, Andy Nyman, Alan Jones, and others—a testament to a life lived painting poster after poster with gouache and brushes, driven by the same compulsion that leads anyone to pursue an obsession despite its apparent impracticality.

The Q&A brings together voices who understand Graham's contribution to cinema culture. Madeleine Smith, whose iconic roles in Hammer Horror films made her a legend of British genre cinema, appears in the documentary discussing Graham's work. Peter Fuller, journalist and curator, has spent years documenting the visual history of horror. Together with Graham and moderator Billy Chainsaw, they'll offer insight into the world the film explores—a world where creativity in the margins shapes cinema history.

If you're in Lewes or Sussex, this is the chance to see the film at home, with the people who made it happen.
